Koji Onishi accompanied Doctor Okasai on a new oceanographic vessel on a mission to explore the Black Pyramid. On reaching their destination, the pair climbed into the observation unit, and the ship reorientated into dive mode. Unfortunately, at that time, the Predacons were trying to tap into the Black Pyramid's power reserves, and Sky-Byte and Dark Scream launched an attack on the ship to attempt to stop them discovering the Predacon presence. After unsuccessfully attempting to raise the observation unit back up, Okasai went to check the machine room. Another attack by Sky-Byte threw him against a control panel, rendering him unconscious and leaving Koji to contact the Autobots for help. The Hunt for Black Pyramid
