Richard Langly is a human from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Along with Melvin Frohike and John Byers, Richard "Ringo" Langly is a member of The Lone Gunmen, a trio of conspiracy theorists that sometimes assists the FBI in solving unusual cases, sometimes even involving extra-terrestrial life-forms.

Hearts of Steel

Investigating an email that purported to be from the future warning of an imminent outbreak of a deadly virus, the Lone Gunmen found themselves on the trail of a company called Skylogic Systems. After researching the company on the internet Langly made contact with a source who claimed to have important information for them, but upon meeting in a car park, the humans were astonished when this source turned out to be the Autobots Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Pooling their resources, the two groups were able to identify their chief suspect at Skylogic Systems as David Simmons and after tracing Simmons to the "Sweet Lovin' Highway Motel", they interrogated him and discovered the location of Skylogic's lab.

Langly and Bumblebee struck up a friendship and fast became "ninja buddies" as the diminutive Autobot helped the Lone Gunmen infiltrate the facility by scanning a military altmode and employing his holomatter technology. They quickly discovered the Autobots' captive comrade Ratchet and sprung him from Skylogic's E.M.P. containment field but not without setting off an alarm that summoned squads of Skylogic security armed with advanced weaponry capable of incapacitating Bumblebee. While Byers uncovered the address of Skylogic's virus manufacturing facility, Langly rescued his ninja buddy (according to the first rule of Fight Club) and the Autobots forced their way out of the building to rendez-vous with Optimus Prime.

Afterwards the Lone Gunmen and their Transformer allies went their separate ways, though the Autobots left them with a sample of the virus to take to the C.D.C. in the hopes of developing a cure before heading north. The X-Files: Conspiracy
