In Viron 102.0 Beta, Scavenger's students included Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and Nightcruz. Along with the latter, he joined the Elite Guard. From the Longbow, he helped face threats such as the Recyclons, Planet X in the Skeleton Nebula, Jhiaxus's Destructicons, and such bizarre threats as the Metabeasts of Zeotopia, the Intruder Empire, and the Elder Gods! A redeco of the Beast Machines Vehicon Scavenger, Scavenger transforms into a Cybertronic power-shovel-like thing. A plunger mechanism on the back of the "shovel" opens and closes the vehicle's crusher jaw. His spark crystal is located in the "control tower" behind a flip-down panel. Scavenger was available only in a 3-pack with Mirage GT and Nightcruz.

This set was released in Japan as a ToysЯUs exclusive "USA Edition" set on July 31, 2002.
