TransTech
Rhinox went to university and had a close relationship with his professor, Vector Prime (maybe you've heard of him). The two came up with the universal stream system together. Ask Vector Prime, 29/11/2015
When the TransTechs began their multiverse-monitoring focus, Rhinox, Prowl, and Silverbolt took the lead in cataloging other universal streams Rook - Axiom Nexus News: Investigative Journalist and Rhinox founded the Ministry of Higher Dimensional Sciences. Ask Vector Prime, 29/11/2015
When a group of six interdimensional travelers found themselves in the multiversal hub city of Axiom Nexus by mistake, they spoke of the extra-dimensional Cataclysm that threatened their entire universe. To hopefully help explain this occurrence Optimus Prime and Megatron called on the expertise of Rhinox. After some quick data analysis, Rhinox was able explain the source of the travelers' cataclysm—their universe was being replaced by another, due to an unusual shatterpoint caused by the appearance and destruction of Unicron, the destruction of Primus's avatar, a tainted Matrix, as well as an unidentified earlier event.
Though the source of the travelers' cataclysm was found, there was nothing Rhinox or the other TransTech could do for them. Withered Hope
Some time later, Rhinox detected "multiple phenomena across corresponding clusters", even in universal streams long thought destroyed. Rhinox traced the activity back to Primax 207.0 Epsilon in general and its universe's Overlord in particular, along with an invasion force from Primax -408.24 Epsilon. Invasion Prologue He monitored the situation and its effects on the rest of the multiverse, reporting to Prowl afterwards that other universes were being unevenly affected. He also found that two ships had ended up in an era known to be the location of the Origin Matrix. Invasion: Epilogue
Rhinox monitored Ultra Magnus's team in the prehistoric era of Primax -408.24 Epsilon, but when he asked Heinrad what would happen next, Heinrad was unable to see any further in time. Rhinox subsequently changed focus to monitor other universes. Alongside Heinrad, he observed a universe that was thought to loop around Primax 1005.19 Gamma as well as one that was further out than ever charted before. Timeless
Rhinox was not completely on board with Heinrad and Thrustinator's plan to stabilize damaged timelines by removing destabilizing elements, but they did so anyway with a Primax Packrat. Collections
In an interview with Axiom Nexus News journalist Rook, Rhinox stated that at the moment he was enrapt by the currently ongoing events in Uniend 911.05 Alpha and Primax 1005.19 Gamma. Rhinox thought that if the latter was a universe governed by a Quill, then the wielder would be someone bordering on sadism. Rook - Axiom Nexus News: Investigative Journalist
Rhinox went out for a stroll, accompanied by fellow TransTechs Silverbolt and Heinrad. All three presumably went offline later that day, along with most TransTechs, due to a global surge in the Global Net. Once the cause of the surge, a Waruder invasion, was dealt with, the TransTechs were restored to consciousness. Cybertron's Most Wanted
A week after the Waruder invasion, Rhinox told Rook in an interview that the Waruders had caught the authorities by surprise as their home, the newly-named Cymond Cluster was previously thought to be outside the multiverse. He went on to say that the government's overall response amounted to bureaucratic maneuvers, which did not please Rook.
Rhinox explained to Rook that the Ministry of Higher Dimensional Sciences had successfully tracked down Sideways by monitoring and detecting Sideways's tachyon transmissions to the Quadwal cluster. Rook - Axiom Nexus News: Investigative Journalist
Notes
- Rhinox's first appearance in the prose story "Withered Hope" had no accompanying image, but described him as a rust-red or burgundy mechanoid. It's possible this color scheme was inspired by the Fox Kids' Rhinox reissue, although unconfirmed. In his first on-panel depiction, the "Invasion Prologue", Rhinox appeared in a more traditional color scheme for his name, and his body design was different than that described in "Withered Hope" (he lacked the artillery barrels above his head, for instance).
- Rhinox's alt mode appears to be based on Generations Darkmount but with a crane arm replacing the tank barrel.
