Griffin

Griffins are hybrid creatures that possess the head, wings, and front legs of an eagle and the body of a lion. They appear in Earth mythology though their actual existence is suspect to doubt. They are related to ursagryphs.

According to legends, the Griffin Rock was once home to griffins, one of which made its nest atop Mount Griffin and turned to stone in order to hibernate. Vikings who visited the area explained the griffin-shaped rock this way, and left griffin carvings and statues on Wayward Island. In Search of the Griffin's Nest It was also from this rock that the island was later named, and the town founded there used the griffin as its symbol. When metal objects began floating towards Wayward Island, he and Blades blamed the happenings on invisible female griffins which they believed were there, however an exploratory mission to the island located only the Viking ruins and a super-magnetized lodestone. Humans apparently started an automobile company named after the mythological creature. According to Hank, Bumblebee's current alternate mode is a Griffin Motors 1995 Windblazer. More than Meets the Eye
Toys

No character has yet been made that as an actual griffin for an altmode. However, there are at least three characters who transform into the closely-related ursagryph.

Additionally, Silverbolt's Beast Machine toy can be configured into a form that resembles a griffin closely enough to suggest that his altmode was originally intended to be a mythological hybrid technorganic Fuzor instead of a rather awkward condor.
