Protecton

The Protectons are one of two races that live on Skalorr in Xobitor universal streams. They are at war with the other race, the Terrakors.
Formerly a race of industrious, insular organics, the Protectons were forced into underground hibernation, along with the Terrakors, after their sun went nova. When a radiation leak damaged their original bodies beyond repair, the Compu-Core transferred some of their essences into a quintet of robotic bodies, granting them spark-analogues.
With the Terrakors threatening to take their violent war off-world, the Protectons have realized that they must take up arms once more, to protect the freedom of all sentient beings. The arrival of humans from an far-away world allowed them to realize they had the power to "interface": with a human in their cockpit, the Protectons can shapeshift at will, sprouting various appendages and tools as necessary.
