Slide

Slide is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Wearing white after Labor Day and while carrying around hundreds of gallons of oil?

When you're as cool as Slide, everything looks easy. When the heat is on, the trick is to not let them see you sweat. He glides effortlessly from task to task with a quick wit and a laid-back charm. When he's in robot mode, he can deploy a frictionless gel from his feet, which allows him to easily glide across any surface.

Sure, his attitude might make his squadmates think that he's just an unmotivated slacker, but his combiner partner Oiler knows that Slide doesn't want the other members of the Metro Squad to know how much he cares. Keep it cool, boy. Real cool.

Fiction

IDW Generation 1 continuity

Slide and her twin brother Oiler were Devisiens who joined the Autobots on Earth after the Ore-13 crisis. The twins were excited to be working alongside Optimus Prime, and like the other recently-arrived colonists they began wearing mouthplates to emulate Optimus, who they percieved as a holy figure.

The new recruits got their first taste of real action when they were sent to Mexico City with Aileron in the hopes of locating a cache of recovered Cybertronian technology. They discovered that an anti-Transformer mob had set up a protest that had quickly turned into a riot. When a human protester shot Midnight Express with a weapon of Cybertronian origin, Optimus summoned reinforcements. While Soundwave, Arcee, and Jazz saved the day, the new meat watched in awe. Back aboard Autobot City, the assembled colonists continued to laud the myriad deeds of Optimus; their combined hero-worship managed to annoy even Aileron. To Walk Among the Chosen

Generation 1

Oiler slams on the brakes, cuts his sibling loose, and lets Slide go hurtling toward the enemy to explode in their midst. They're the Crack Suicide Combiner Squad!

• Micromaster Combiner Metro Squad (1990)

Slide transforms into a white tanker trailer that is intended to be the rear half of a blue and white tanker truck that he forms with his combiner partner Oiler. He can, of course, combine with any other Micromaster Combiner to form a new vehicle, as well as connect to any Micromaster Combiner Transport. Slide was only available in a six-pack with his squadmates Oiler, Power Run, Roadburner, Strikedown, and Wheel Blaze.

Return of Convoy

In Japan, Slide came as part of the Fire Tanker W Team with Oiler, Wheelblaze, and Roadburner. All four components were identical to their Hasbro releases. The group also came with Micro Trailer #5.
