Wheel Blaze is an Autobot Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
"I'll pet the kitty!"

Wheel Blaze (also Wheelblaze) is the perfect calm, competent soldier. Or at least, that's his PR. In truth, while he may be strong and smart, and a pretty competent planner, in an actual crisis he is anything but helpful, something he either doesn't notice or won't admit to. In the field, his cry of, "I'll handle this!" is the cue for his combiner partner, Roadburner, and the rest of the Metro Squad, to start wondering how to fix the impending mess.<ref>More than Meets the Eye #7</ref>

After the fall of the Senate, the Decepticon party initiated an illegal takeover of the government and civil services. Wheel Blaze and a group of civilian volunteers stood guard over the Iacon energon stores, trying to maintain control over the energy for the people. Former Senator Ratbat and a force of Decepticons attacked, driving them away and claiming the energon for the Decepticons and their supporters only. Hunt

Wheel Blaze officially joined the Autobot in exile at Crystal City after the loss of Iacon. He was part of a convoy sent out into the Sea of Rust in an effort to retrieve the Enigma of Combination. Enigmatic

Commercial appearances

[edit]

Wheel Blaze, Roadburner, Missile Master and Moonrock were among a group of Autobot Micromasters that managed to infiltrate the Decepticon headquarters. Megatron tried to stop them, only to be confounded by their ability to separate and recombine in their vehicle modes. They then shot Megatron in the face. Micromaster Combiners commercial

The Transformers

[edit]

Someday, Mobage will see this and assume Roadburner is meant to be white.
  • Metro Squad (Micromaster Combiner Squad, 1990)
Released in the seventh and final year of the original Hasbro Transformers toyline in the US (sixth and non-final year in Europe), Wheel Blaze transforms into a the tractor part of a yellow American LaFrance tractor-drawn aerial fire engine, which he forms with his combiner partner Roadburner. He can, of course, combine with any other Micromaster Combiner to form a new vehicle, as well as connect to any Micromaster Combiner Transport.
He was only available in the Metro Squad six-pack with Roadburner, Power Run, Oiler, Slide, and Strikedown.

  • Fire Tanker W Team (Micro Transformer W Team, 1991)
  • ID number: C-365
  • Accessories: Micro Trailer #5
A year later, Wheel Blaze was released in the Return of Convoy part of the original Takara Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, as part of the Fire Tanker W Team.
The other three toys in the set are Roadburner, Oiler, and Slide, all identical to their Hasbro-release versions. The set also comes with Micro Trailer #5, a storage/launching vehicle for Micromasters which can also attach to a Micromaster half-vehicle, plus a decal sheet with extra stickers to adorn your Micromasters with.

War for Cybertron: Siege

[edit]
Not being packaged with Roadburner is Wheel Blaze's vengeance for Transformers Legends.
  • Autobots vs. Decepticons (Micromaster 10-pack, 2019)
  • ID number: WFC-S58
Siege Wheel Blaze is a redeco of Red Heat (himself a retool of Topshot) that transforms from robot to Cybertronian fire truck. He can also combine with his pack-in teammate Road Police to form the "Powershot Plasma Cannon" blaster-weapon for larger figures to wield. As a part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System, their weapon mode can be attached to any toy with a 5 mm post-hole. Fire Blast effects can also be attached to their barrels, and to the end of the fire truck mode's ladder.
He was only available as part of a Target exclusive ten-pack of Micromasters, which includes the Autobots Ground Shaker, Irontread, Overair, Ricon, and Road-Police, and the Decepticons Cratermaker, Fireline, Nightflight, and Slyhopper. Wheel Blaze is incorrectly labelled Irontread on the first page of the instruction manual, but is correctly named for his toy’s instructions.

Notes

[edit]
  • Transformers Legends featured an enormous error where Roadburner's alt mode is depicted as a singular unit with the portion formed by Wheel Blaze being colored white. It's uh... it's something alright.
  • As Wheel Blaze already received a release in the Siege toyline, he was "replaced" by Fireguard as Roadburner's partner in the Earthrise Micromasters multi-pack.

Foreign names

[edit]
  • Japanese: Wheel Breeze (ホイールブリーズ Hoīru Burīzu)<ref>It is unclear whether Takara intentionally changed the pronunciation of the second word from "blaze" to "breeze" or rather if the "breeze" pronunciation is merely the result of a misspelling.</ref>
  • French: Étincelle (Canada)
  • Italian: Bionic
