- Ikard's name is a combination of the Japanese word for squid (ika) and "Picard", because Ikard is a starship captain.
- Beast Wars: Uprising takes place largely in the 24th century. As such, it includes a large number of Star Trek nods, including having Ikard speak many of Captain Picard's catch phrases, Star Trek: The Next Generation-inspired uniforms for the Confederated Terran Colonial Fleet, and a glorious string of classic TNG technobabble.
