The Anti-Vocationist League (AVL) stands in opposition to the Functionist Council, supporting the freedom of the oppressed. Many of them have "Redundant" alt-modes, such as data-sticks, the Lunabots from the astro class, and those who have fixed their alt-modes to look like Rung.

Twelve-of-Twelve and his Functionaries were rounding up AVL dissidents when they encountered the universally-displaced crewmembers of the Lost Light and naturally assumed they were simply more or the rabble-rousers to be arrested. Other AVL members, led by Clicker, attempted a rescue, but only succeeded in proving they were terrible at the whole resistance-fighter thing, needing to be saved by the Lost Light crew. Clicker then revealed the AVL's base of operations was Cyberutopia. Anomie
