The Transformers Animated Annual 2009 was published in the UK by HarperCollins Children's Books on September 1, 2008.

It includes only one story: "Attack of the Dinobots", a twelve-page adaptation of "Blast from the Past" using screen-grabs in place of illustrated panels, similar to the IDW Animated comic. Other than this, the annual includes an assortment of fact files, colouring pages, drawing guides and puzzles, many of which are seemingly identical to those featured in "How to Draw" and the activity book released for the American market at around the same time.

Contents

[edit]
  • "Meet the Transformers" — Optimus Prime, Bulkhead, Prowl, Bumblebee and Ratchet pose-off against Starscream and Megatron in a wondrous display of scale.
  • "A Girl's Best Friend" — Colouring page starring Sari and Sparkplug.
  • "Draw Your Own Transformer" — Does exactly what it says on the tin.
  • "How to Draw Optimus Prime" — Pat Lee, take note.
  • "Attack of the Dinobots" — A story? In my TF annual?
  • "Memory Test" — I hope you were paying attention when reading that story...
  • "Who's Who?" — Spot the real Prowl amongst his holograms. And you can colour them all in, too.
  • "Home Sweet Home" — Word search madness.
  • "A Closer Look" — Colouring page starring Isaac Sumdac, which you are invited to study for one minute.
  • "True or False" — Quick! Fill out this quiz about the previous page. No peeking.
  • "Accidents Happen" — Bug + black liquid nanobots = ...? Join the dots to find out.
  • "Fact Files" — Optimus, Bulkhead, Bumblebee and Prowl strut their stuff.
  • "The Spark of Life" — How many words can you make from the letters in "Cybertron"?
  • "Words of Wisdom" — Ultra Magnus writes everything in numbers, apparently. Use the cypher to decode his message to Prime.
  • "Finding Optimus" — Prime is hiding somewhere in the picture of downtown Detroit wearing a red and white striped jumper. Hint: He's not a building.
  • "Spot the Difference" — Starscream has pimped his own ride. Find the five changes in his appearance, OR ELSE!
  • "Fact Files" — Ratchet, Sari and Isaac do their thing.
  • "Speak Up!" — Captain Fanzone's bullhorn is broken! It's converting everything he says into pictures! Decode the message.
  • "Armed and Dangerous" — Colouring page showing Bulkhead smashing up everything, including Prowl. While you're here, little help finding the big guy's wrecking ball?
  • "More than Meets the Eye" — Surprisingly devilish crossword puzzle, with pictures for clues.
  • "Teamwork" — Do Ratchet's job for him by decoding three anagrams and telling him how to fight the nanobot bug.
  • "Time Flies When You're Having Fun" — Oh, those silly policemen! Tell them what they're doing wrong.
  • "Keep Away" — Help Bumblebee find his way through a maze wrought with perilous... peril.
  • "Master of Deception" — Starscream's vain enough to write his own name three-dozen times in order to stop Megatron finding out his plan. Cross it out each time to see what he's plotting.
  • "Fact Files" — Megatron and Starscream stand around.
  • "How to Draw Starscream" — ...With a pencil.
  • "Ratchet's Puzzle" — Find the odd Ratchet out.
  • "A Man of Many Faces" — Blitzwing's lost his head!
  • "How to Draw the Racecar" — The racecar? That's Bumblebee... in disguise!
  • "A Magnetic Personality" — Colouring page depicting Ratchet's party trick. And Prowl's dead.
  • "Disguise Time!" — Whee! A blank page! Self-insertion fanwank starts here!
  • "Answers" — The... answers... to the puzzles.

Items of Note

[edit]
  • The crossword puzzle expects its readers to know the name of Blitzwing's "Icy" persona. This is presumably to weed out the true fans from the poseurs.
  • Lugnut is notable by his absence.
