Talk:Brainstorm (G1)/2005 IDW continuity
From MediaWiki
Jump to navigationJump to searchWould anyone mind if I moved Brainstorm's appearance in Old Ways to the trivia section? It's pretty clearly been retconned and I think it's unnecessarily confusing to leave it where it is. Omegatron (talk) 17:51, 24 April 2017 (EDT)
- An appearance is still an appearance, even if it has been retconned. Escargon (talk) 17:54, 24 April 2017 (EDT)
- I'm not saying delete it entirely, just move it to trivia, or at least make it a note. The current phrasing, and positioning as the first line of the fiction section, suggests that the "contradiction" is actually important when it's probably never going to be brought up at all. Omegatron (talk) 06:56, 25 April 2017 (EDT)
- It's standard "Marvel Handbook" style language for a retconned/erroneous appearances. There's no need for it to be in the notes. Escargon (talk) 08:54, 25 April 2017 (EDT)
- This isn't Marvel though. Should Bluster go on Blaster's page? Or Ulchtar on Starscream's? Or even Straxus-Megatron on vanilla-Megatron's page? Omegatron (talk) 11:44, 25 April 2017 (EDT)
- 1) This wiki uses that style of writing. 2) Those are cases where we have been told who the "error" was, we haven't been told that this was someone else so it is still Brainstorm (even though it doesn't seem to fit). --Khajidha (talk) 12:15, 25 April 2017 (EDT)
- 1) Sometimes, not everywhere.
- 2) Can't we use our common sense, like we do with Shockwave's appearance in The Autobot Run? Omegatron (talk) 15:08, 25 April 2017 (EDT)

Bluster was a joke on Furman's blog that got an article for some reason. Ulchtar was always meant to be Armada Starscream in Jim's mind and I don't know why they haven't been merged. Escargon (talk) 13:43, 25 April 2017 (EDT)
- Bluster fixes a continuity error and Ulchtar shows that the rest of the wiki doesn't consider an appearance an appearance if it has been retconned. Omegatron (talk) 15:08, 25 April 2017 (EDT)
- Bluster was a joke on a blog because Don Figueroa obviously didn't know Blaster was going to be used and drew him in an issue of Stormbringer, and when asked about it, Furman made a silly joke. He didn't intend Bluster to be real, and never did, and the only reason we have to have him him now is because we've influenced people into thinking he was real because of our page on him, so he shows up in an Ask Sideways answer. Ulchtar is still only separate because apparently, looking around, there was a big argument about it when AVP was running. Now, Jim says this about him back in November of 2015
- Ulchtar was ALWAYS an alternate name for Starscream, and I've been consistently writing him that way since I invented him.
- I dunno... like, however many years ago when I was doing AAII I thought it'd be funny if there was a universe where Starscream was named Ulchtar. I picked up on the fact that Starscream's name was never used in Energon Within so I had a little fun. Does that bother people? And since Spacewarp is also from a Unicron Trilogy flash game, I thought maybe it's a common thing in Kappa cluster Aurex universes.
