This article is about the heroic Insecticon. For his evil counterpart, see Shrapnel (G1). For a list of other meanings, see Shrapnel (disambiguation).
Shrapnel is a heroic Decepticon Insecticon from the Shattered Glass continuity family.
The guy on the left might or might not be Shrapnel.

"Shrapnel" is a heroic Insecticon. He probably has electric powers which he uses for justice.

  • Insectron Clone Army (multi-pack, 2004)
    • Japanese ID number: 75 (individual), 76 (clones set)
    • Accessories: "Gamma Beam Detonator" rifle, energon cube.
Generation 1 Zaptrap was officially repurposed as Shattered Glass Shrapnel.[citation needed]
A redeco of the Insecticon Shrapnel mold, Zaptrap transforms into a mechanical stag beetle. The "control seat" in the insect-mode back / robot-mode chest can open up and store one of the three energon cubes that come with the set. Zaptrap was only available in an e-HOBBY exclusive Collector's Edition set with Salvo and Shothole.

Notes

  • For the most part, G1 fiction did not include the Deluxe Insecticons, focussing on the trio of Bombshell, Kickback, and Shrapnel. All three were recolored versions of Diaclone Waruder toys, and e-HOBBY eventually released an exclusive set of Insecticon clones named Salvo, Shothole, and Zaptrap, based on those pre-Transformer colors. Two of that e-HOBBY set were officially repurposed as two of the classic Insecticon trio's negative polarity namesakes, so it seems likely that the third (Zaptrap) would be repurposed as the third (negative polarity Shrapnel).
  • However, the BotCon 2008 "One Generation Shattered" lithograph shows a Shrapnel-shaped, Monsterbot-colored guy flying alongside another Insecticon-shaped, Monsterbot-colored guy. Maybe they're Shattered Glass versions of Zaptrap and Salvo?
