Don't leave them alone together. They multiply.
If you lose a son, it is possible to get another! There is only one Golden Disk.

—A grossly misinformed Cryotek., "Theft of the Golden Disk"

You can't swing a dead cat in Transformers without hitting a Golden Disk.

Beast Wars introduced a sensible two:

  • The Sounds of Earth recording from the 1977 Voyager space probe.
  • A Vok artifact that bears an uncanny but probably coincidental resemblance to the Voyager disk.

Beast Machines had two in a throwaway scene with Optimus Prime holding some in a memorial of him outside the Cybertron Archives. Writer Bob Skir claimed that neither the statue nor the Golden Disks in its hands were mentioned in the script. However, he suggested that they were either the Golden Disks from the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 probes or that Optimus won them in the 2,395,989th Annual Cybertronian Spelling Bee. We're betting on the latter.

More followed like roaches in the Dreamwave Generation One continuity:

Takara was not to be left out, writing of yet another Golden Disk that was the mysterious power source of a mysterious vessel under mysterious circumstances.

Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II being a trove of references would have been remiss to not have a Golden Disk.

Yet another Golden Disk shows up in the Regeneration One portion of the Marvel Comics continuity. This one, however turned out to be a version of the Covenant of Primus.

Beast Wars: Uprising has Bisk stumble on a Golden Disk stashed beneath the ruins of Iacon.

Also, Transformers Animated Kellogg's Eggo waffles: Moist, delicious repositories of wisdom.
