Continuity Shattered Glass

Ravage tells a story.

Synopsis

Ravage remembers the Transformers greatest battle on Earth. One day, while he and Thundercracker were chilling on some cliffs, when suddenly the Autobots, led by both Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime attacked! This battle, Ravage claims, would go on to be known as the Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction! Buzzsaw, however, points out in his odd manner of speech of several flaws with Ravage's tale, the least of which being that it was on a dirt road and as to how the battle was "digital". Ravage protests that he doesn't need to justify his titles as Buzzsaw walks off.

Notes

Continuity notes

  • Ravage's tale is obviously a total lie; Optimus Prime was never on Earth with Rodimus (not until much later, at least, and in a different body), the latter having betrayed the former in "Do Over". Similarly, Thundercracker, Mirage, and Sunstreaker were never on Earth either, the latter being shown to be station on Paradron in later stories.
  • Buzzsaw hasn't appeared since the original "Shattered Glass" comic.

Transformers references

  • It's not obvious in the previous strips if this is the case, but Ravage has gone from his original body (a straight repurposing of Glit) to his BotCon 2010 toy body (based on the patters of his alternate mode).
  • Ravage's whole tale is based on one of the pack-in catalogues from the original Transformers toyline, "Rodimus Prime remembers the Transformers greatest battle on Earth." The "Digital Doom" here mirrors the one seen in that story, with most of the characters replaced by their Shattered Glass counterparts. (Exceptions being Ravage replacing Megatron, Goldbug replacing Warpath, and no replacement for Cosmos at all.)

Real-world references

  • Buzzsaw's speech patterns (a bunch of verticle lines) are based on those of Woodstock from Peanuts, who spoke entirely in "chicken-scratch".
