The Transformers: Masterpiece Official Guide is a book released in Japan in 2014 showcasing The Transformers: Masterpiece figures from MP-1 Convoy, up to and including MP-22 Ultra Magnus, with a (then) sneak-peak at MP-24 Star Saber.
In addition to galleries of design sketches, prototypes and stock photography of the standard releases, pages are also dedicated to redecos, the Masterpiece Movie Series - at the time comprising only MPM-1 Starscream and MPM-2 Bumblebee - and a special section taking a look at other lines which have been based on real vehicles, such as the Autobot Brothers from Car Robots/Robots in Disguise, Alternity and, of course, Binaltech/Alternators.
It includes a number of interviews with the Japanese designers of the figures, such as Shogo Hasui and Hironori Kobayashi. These interviews have revealed details about the design and thought process that goes into the line, such as the origin of the "soft-reboot" which accompanied MP-10 Convoy, and the design of MP-5 Megatron being completed in less than two weeks.
