I can't tell you how glorious it is that we have to disambiguate "Toaster" on this wiki.--UndeadScottsman 22:08, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- It made my morning. I went to check something on the MD website and-- "wait,t here's a new commercial? With more new characters?" -Derik 22:10, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Realgear or not realgear that's the question.
What differs between Toaster and Frenzy that make one a Real Gear, and the other not. Or has frenzy to be classified a Real Gear too? Or is Toaster in fact not a Real Gear? The debate is now open!
- Frenzy? Frenzy is a Decepticon from Cybertron. Real Gear Robots are Earth machines brought to life by the Allspark. I don't think Toaster belong in the RGR category, though. Even though I'd say it's likely that he is an Earth machine brought to life by the Allsaprk, we should only use the RGR category for the toyline. --KilMichaelMcC 01:16, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Real Gear, for reasons previously stated on the Talk:Real Gear Robot page.
- Hardcore movie spoilers (i.e. reading the novelization) present a clearer picture why than readily apparent from the Real Gear Robots toy bio. -Derik 01:18, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Since the number of people who are willing to spoil themselves just to check your work is going to be extremely limited, I'm not really okay with you having free reign over stuff like this for a month while we wait for the movie to come out so we can edit out all the Derik. I say put the novelization aside for now. --ItsWalky 01:25, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hrm... how to argue this without movie spoilers then...
- Fine, I substitute the Real Gear Robot AX9-8946-09SU-1 from the Sector 7 ARG (the one who killed James Farr) as a non-spoilery example of the phenomena. Unliving Earth hardware animated by the Allspark starts out as a feral killing machine. Toaster is thus one step along the path from AX9-8946-09SU-1 to the fully-mature, individualized RGR toy characters. -Derik 01:31, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
I have been thinking along the lines of: While all "Real Gear Robots" are Earth machines brought to life by the Allpsark, not all Earth machines brought to life by the Allspark are necessarily "Real Gear Robots." That we should only label as Real Gears things that actually, officially have that label. --KilMichaelMcC 01:27, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- I understand that is your perspective, but the definition of RGR's given for the line is 'Machines animated by the Allspark.' minor spoiler below.
![]() Spoiler warning: Plot details follow. of the next episode/issue in the series or 30 days after release, whichever is sooner |
- In the movie we will (apparently) see a cell phone animated by the allspark. It is demonstrably not Speed Dial 800. But is SD800 is a RGR... why the hell isn't Unnamed Cell Phone #2 a RGR? -Derik 01:35, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
