Wedge is put in charge of practicing the Recruits' response time, but his drive for perfection does more harm than good.
Synopsis
The recruits are carrying out various activities in the training center. Hot Shot interrupts Wedge, causing him to break the chip he's working on. As he yells at Hot Shot, the rescue drill alarm goes off, and the bots run to their launch tubes. Landing outside, they find Tough Luck Chuck and use a "stack and save" maneuver to get Chuck down. Heatwave says they need work on their response time, apart from Wedge who is doing well. Dismissing the other recruits, he holds Wedge back to discuss something with him. The other recruits speculate about what Heatwave wanted, but Wedge soon bursts in just as the rescue alarm goes off again, and the recruits scramble. After a series of practice roll outs, Wedge returns to Heatwave and reports that the team's response times are getting better, but he persuades Heatwave to let him keep the rescue alarm trigger for a few more days. Heatwave warns him not to overuse it.
Hot Shot asks if anyone wants to help clean the windows, but Hoist is busy repairing the launch tube system to help Boulder. The rescue drill alarm goes off, and the four recruits scramble outside to find Wedge waiting. He explains Heatwave entrusted him with the drill trigger, and blows off Hoist when the other Bot asks if they can take a break so he can finish repairing the tube system. A series of drills ensue, interrupting the work each time, and the launch tubes begin malfunctioning more and more.
The other four recruits complain about Wedge's power trip. Wedge enters, complaining that they're getting slower on each rollout and they tell him they need a break. Wedge triggers another alarm, but halfway down his launch tube, he suddenly gets stuck. The other bots arrive outside and, not finding Wedge, wonder if the trigger is malfunctioning. Wedge attempts to rescue himself, but ends up with one arm frozen due to a coolant leak. The rest of the recruits go to finish fixing the launch tubes, but realize there's coolant coming from Wedge's tube. The recruits form an Autobot chain and with Chuck's help, they extract Wedge from the tube. The alarm goes off again, and they all pile into Hoist's tube, since it's the only one working. Heatwave is impressed with their new response time, but Wedge admits he didn't give the team enough breaks and that's why the tubes broke. Heatwave sends them to fix the tube system.
