Ratchet got stuck on Na'conda after an incident involving a foldspace warhead. At that time, the Thraal and A'ovan were at war with each other. Upon scanning a Thraal tank to blend in, Ratchet additionally received information from the tank's onboard computer about the reasons and current situation of the war. An all-out attack by the Thraal on the last A'ovan stronghold motivated Ratchet to interfere, and he engaged the Thraal leader, Durguth, in combat. Due to the Thraal's hierarchal system, none came to help their leader or continued the battle against the A'ovan while Durguth's authority wasn't certain. Ratchet won the battle, thereby becoming the new ruler of the Thraal Imperium. Being an Autobot, Ratchet used his position to mediate between the Thraal and A'ovan and end the war.
