Ratchet is an Autobot in the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Ratchet is one of the oldest Autobots on Optimus Prime's team. He's also second command. Though sporting a bit of paunch, he's a true veteran, and he's the only one of the group to have seen real fighting and war in the past. A leader figure for his comrades, he's got a bit of a military drill sergeant aura to him. He also likes bashing Bumblebee on the head when 'Bee's being a smart-ass.

He's not Kup. Honestly.

Young bots. Can't live with 'em. Can't melt 'em down for spare parts.Ratchet, grumbling and moaning, "Transform and Roll Out!"

According to the historical files Prime watches in the beginning of the pilot episode, the Great War took place many millions of years ago. According to Ratchet, he was in that war, which makes him...pretty old. Also, the fights made him bitter, mostly in regards to heroism. He has quite a knowledge about the Decepticons. His special power is based on magnetism; he can move metal-based objects, and create shields.

He enjoys grumbling, being sarcastic, and having war flashback, just like any old man.

When the city was suffering from a black out Rachet was having constent War Flash backs about Arcee the bounty hunter Lockdown who was the one who stole his EMP generator reacks havoc in search of Optimus Prime. When Lockdown captures Prime the Autobots make an etempt in rescuring him but Ratchet refuses cause of his memories of the hunter, he eventually changes his time and arrives just in time to stop Lockdown from claiming his prize, crippling his ship and rescures the Autobots while taking back his EMP generator back. By the time Prime is repaired Ratchet finnialy accepts prime's offer of having someone to talk to about accedently wiping out Arcee's memory. The Thrill of the Hunt
