- Egon Spengler is a Ghostbuster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Dr. Egon Spengler is a scientist and founding member of the Ghostbusters. As the brains of the team, he holds multiple degrees and is constantly absorbed in his research. As a result, his social interactions with other humans leave much to be desired.
He's confident aliens don't exist. We wonder how that's working out for him.

- Egon appeared in the Ghostbusters chapters of IDW's Infestation and The X-Files: Conspiracy crossover events.
- One of Susan Hoffman's assistants in "Race with the Devil" was drawn to resemble Egon's appearance in The Real Ghostbusters.
- In both The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters, Egon was voiced by Maurice LaMarche.
