The Proton Pack is a ghost-capturing device, and pseudo-weapon, invented by Egon Spengler and Ray Stantz for their ghost-hunting activities. In use, the operator uses a "wand" to direct a stream of positively charged ions at their ghost prey, acting as a snare to control the ghost, before a Ghost Trap is deployed to suck in and contain the ghost.

Ectotron's roof-mounted equipment rack turns into a Proton Pack, plugging into his gun which also serves as the wand.

Optimus Prime Ecto-35 Edition similarly comes with an equipment rack that mounts on the roof of his Ecto-1 themed trailer, and converts into a Proton Pack for the Autobot leader. A hose connects to his ion blaster to act as the wand.
