The name or term "Giza" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Giza (disambiguation).

The Giza Plateau is a region of Egypt. Home to the Pyramids, the region is an archeological treasure trove, where scientists can learn about the history of Ancient Egypt.

It may or may not have something to do with alien shenanigans, depending on who you ask.

Notes

  • Revenge of the Fallen's depiction of Egypt and Jordan, more specifically the pyramids and Petra, is somewhat different compared to the real world: in the real world the pyramids are located on the Giza plateau 80 miles from the coast of the Gulf of Suez, which forms the most northern part of the western Red Sea. In the film however, the location of the pyramids is repeatedly stated in dialogue and shown via maps to be in the Gulf of Aqaba, the most northern part of the eastern Red Sea. Specifically on the most northern shore 3 miles to the west. Likewise the location of Petra also differs between fiction and reality: the real Petra is located roughly 60 miles north of the Gulf of Aqaba but in the film it is presented as being in the coastal mountains just to the east of the gulf.
  • On Simmons's GPS satellite image of the Gulf of Aqaba Egypt and Jordan are clearly marked in white text but Israel is not, implying it does not yet exist. Israel is however mentioned in Age of Extinction, suggesting that it was founded at a much later date compared to the real world.
  • The temple of Luxor is used to portray a fictional structure located next to the pyramid of Khafre and is where the final battle between Optimus Prime, Megatron and The Fallen was filmed.
  • Contrary to popular belief there is in fact water visible in the precise direction the railgun shot is coming from. If one looks hard enough that is.
  • As the Autobots and company are crossing the Sinai peninsula on their way to the Gulf of Aqaba, shortly before being chased by Egyptian police and shortly before arriving at the Egyptian security checkpoint which as later dialogue indicates is 100 miles away from the Gulf, they drive past a pair of pyramids that resemble the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, which shows that there are multiple sets of pyramids in the Sinai/Gulf of Aqaba region
  • In the world of the Michael Bay films the name Giza refers not to a region of the Sahara desert on mainland north Africa but instead to the southern end of the Arabah valley in the Negev desert, on the eastern side of the Sinai peninsula.
  • The fictional counterparts of the towns of Eilat, which in real life is Israeli but in the films is Egyptian, to the west and Aqaba in Jordan to the east can be frequently seen in the background.
