Personally, I think Transquito's extra 'attack mode' is more likely to be an amblypygid. (You can google it) due to the general posture of the creature and the way the jaws are jointed.

Only female mosquitos have the iconic mosquito proboscis. Since Transquito has it, but is referred to with masculine pronouns... Well, Transquito has something of a, perhaps unintentional, double meaning as a name. --Skyvenom
