Transformers x Dialect Girl: My Toys (トランスフォーマーx方言女子:私のおもちゃ Toransufōmā x Hōgen Jōshi: Uchi no Omocha) is a trio of comic strips by Dōdō Yamasaki, detailing the daily life of romance novelist and big Transformers nerd Kahori Hanamura. It was published in Young Gangan magazine under supervision by Takara in order to promote concurrent Transformers toylines.[1].

My Toys issues

Overview

The three chapters follow the daily life of Kahori Hanamura, an 18 year-old romance prodigy who has recently moved from the countryside to Tokyo to write for a literary magazine. She spends her time causing trouble for her cousin and editor Satoko Hanamura, who would much rather she meet her deadlines instead of skipping showers and ordering Transformers online. The manga features a number of imagine spots where Kahori connects her current predicament to Transformers, as well as imagining that her toys are talking to her.

Notes

  • Similar to other Transformers manga, Transformers X Dialect Girl uses rather crude sex appeal to try and sell the brand. Unlike these examples, it doesn’t insert this into the fictional world of the Transformers, instead promising the reader that yes, hot girls play with Transformers too.
  • The manga promotes a mixture of recent toylines such as Legends and Movie The Best, as well as slightly older ones like Henkei! Henkei! and United.
