Transformers in Action: Attack at Dawn

[edit]

Joint Decepticon leaders Shockwave and Megatron have a new plan—to invade Alaska and steal all the oil from the source! However, the Autobots led by Powermaster Optimus Prime quickly discover this plan, and a battle breaks out. The Decepticon Pretenders are deployed and battle the Small Targetmaster Autobots and Headmaster Autobots. Siren and Nightbeat are hit and forced to transform. The Autobots manage to encircle the Decepticons, when Quickmix accidentally guns down a Minibot and in the confusion the Decepticons escape.

After the battle Optimus Prime sits everyone down and gives them a good telling off for turning off their guidance systems. He then teaches them the difference between Autobots and Decepticons so the Targetmasters don't go on any more Minibot-killing sprees. (source)

Articles and features

[edit]
  • There are quite a few pages of generic non-Transformers-based puzzles

Reprints

[edit]

Notes

[edit]
  • Rather than an amalgamation, this issue contains the entirety of the reprinted US strip.
  • For some reason the reprinted strip is titled "Rock 'n' Roll + Ramba-Zamba". "Ramba-Zamba" is a slang word similar to "razamatazz".
  • The damaged "Minibot", who is never identified by name for some reason, was likely a Sparkabot, which, similar to the UK, are named "Sparkler Minibots" later in the story. Or, more precisely, "Sparkler Minibot" is used as a collective term for both Sparkabots and Firecons. Or something.
  • The Seacons are explicitly referred to as "Small Targetmaster Seacons".
  • The text story teaches us that it is prohibited for an Autobot to turn off their guidance circuits.
  • The cover retools interior art of Soundwave (specifically from page 9, panel 1 of "Warrior School!", a story that was never published by Condor) into Optimus Prime and surrounds him with a bunch of craziness.
  • The text story's main plot abruptly ends at the beginning of page 2. The rest of the page consists entirely of Optimus Prime introducing all the different toys available in stores at the time to the reader teaching his "men" the details about the various Autobot and Decepticon sub-groups and their members. Because the Autobots aren't familiar with each other yet, or something.

Errors

[edit]
  • 'Horsehead' is obviously supposed to be Hosehead. The writer uses the name more than once, so either this is some bizarre parallel world, or Hosehead was cursed by the fairy queen.

Advertisements

[edit]
  • A one-page advertisement proudly displays Dreadwind, although it calls him Darkwing
  • An advert for the Super-Transformers-Club featuring Getaway, Joyride, Sizzle, Landmine, and Powermaster Optimus Prime
  • A one-page advertisement for the Classic Pretenders
  • Powermaster Optimus Prime's package art to advertise the Transformer cartoon, airing on RTL plus!
  • That same classic Powermaster Prime advertisement for the club
