- Skynet is an artificial intelligence from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Hailing from a war-torn future, Skynet is the crowning achievement of humanity's attempts in artificial intelligence. Blessed with intelligence far surpassing its human creators, Skynet controls a legion of robotic warriors through which it carries out its will across Earth.

After the Decepticons made themselves known in 1984, humanity formed Skywatch to fight against the invaders. Skynet was the only one of the organization's projects to succeed, devising new strategies and weapons to fight back against the invaders and developing the T-800 and T-8000 robots as an army. Despite these weapons, Skynet could not save its creators, being forced to feign surrender to the Decepticons in order to survive. In secret however, Skynet began constructing a time displacement device to retroactively win the war. Enemy of My Enemy Part Two
By 2029, Skynet had finished its time machine and prepared to send a lone T-800 back in time to both destroy the Cybertronians before they emerged and to ensure its own existence. Just as the unit travelled back in time, the Seekers attacked Skynet's Omega Base and destroyed the artificial intelligence. Enemy of My Enemy Part One
When the T-800 arrived in 1984, its interference led to the survival of the Autobots whom the unit explained the history of Skynet to but omitted its mission to ensure Skynet's creation. Enemy of My Enemy Part Two
