Is it too much to suggest that, as a page linked from every other page on the Wiki, there should be something here?

I had the same problem getting anyone interested in the privacy policy back then, which I think is why Derik probably just wrote that one and stuck it up there. I would like to see it replaced with something better, but I'd rather we created that something better before nuking the existing one. --abates 18:07, 1 April 2010 (EDT)

I think the current one is SO bad as to be worse than useless. We shouldn't be using this space to pontificate about the lack of online privacy. In this case, I think having a bad privacy policy is a LOT worse for us than having NO privacy policy.--Jimsorenson 18:14, 1 April 2010 (EDT)

Note about unofficial status

"The following site privacy statement is a draft. It has not yet(Nov-11-09) been formally approved." That date is ten and a half years ago. The last comment before this on the discussion page is over nine years old. Is this page still a thing, and if so, what kind? It seems like something should have happened regarding this policy proposal long ago, whether that's adoption, revision, or having Megatron force it to fly into the sun like it's full of Autobots.

Now, I'm not about to edit this page itself, because a) I'm a relative newbie here and this is a policy, not some character page full of typos and b) we should have some consensus before actually changing it. But what we seem to have here is more lack of awareness than consensus. so let me toss out some options and see if anyone bites: 1) Adopt as stands. Basically delete the note and call it official. 2) Delete as stands. Essentially get rid of it in some way, maybe eventually to be replaced wholesale if we feel like it. 3) Revise in some way, then adopt. Probably should discuss how to revise it.

Now, I'm (currently) profoundly apathetic about which option we choose, but when I see something that's been a work in progress in some sense for over a decade, with no discussion for nearly all that time, I'm going to pick up that dropped ball and see if anyone wants to play with it. --Waverod ✈️ (talk) 19:53, 23 July 2020 (EDT)
