The name or term "Optimus Prime" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Optimus Prime (disambiguation).
Optimus Prime is an Autobot from the 2001 Robots in Disguise and Generation 1 continuity families via Transformers: Universe.
Well, that's just... uh, splendid.

Optimus Prime is a legendary Autobot leader and hero. Though her splendid yellow armor sets her apart from others of her archetype across the multiverse, she is as dedicated and honorable as any of her red-clad counterparts, unafraid to make difficult choices like downsizing herself and her troops into Spy Changers to conserve power. She does, however have one unusual quirk—she never calls out her attacks in a dramatic fashion before using them. Weird, right?

Sometimes, she is known as Yellow Splendid Convoy (イエロー華麗なる司令官 (コンボイ) Ierō Kareinaru Konboi, lit. "Yellow Splendid Commander"), and wields the Yellow Matrix as the leader of the Yellow Order of the Primus Vanguard.

Prime's "Worlds Collide" cameo was originally meant to be a version of the Robots in Disguise cartoon's Optimus Prime, but was later established by Ask Vector Prime as being the Prime from the Voice Actor Drama.
"Hmmm... yellow... Do you think that's me, Prowl?"

When the Heralds of Unicron destabilized the space bridge nexus in Aurex 402.24 Gamma, causing the space bridges to become windows to other dimensions, Jetfire caught a glimpse of Optimus Prime and Prowl. Worlds Collide, Part 4 of 4

Ask Vector Prime

Wait a minute... there's something bothering me about this Prime.

I know! This female Optimus Prime doesn't have a fire ladder! Enjoy your negligence suit, lady!

When the Sky-Byte of her world accidentally turned all of Earth's energon toxic, the female Optimus Prime of Viron 1103.12 Gamma was forced to downsize herself and her troops into new Spy Changer forms to survive, much to the amusement of the Predacons... until the Autobots blew up the Predacons' pure energon and the bad guys ran out of energy. Optimus's nemesis Scourge was the only villain that made the shift to a Spy Changer body, but she too was defeated by Prime's army. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/08/18

OTFCC Voice Actor Drama

Voice actor: Michelle Carolus (English)

Optimus Prime and her cohorts Prowl, Ultra Magnus, and Ironhide were later plucked from their universe and stranded on a frozen planetoid, a side effect of Rhinox's device that blocked Unicron's attempt to kidnap Transformers from multiple dimensions. These stranded Autobots were targeted for 'recruitment' by Reptilion but rescued by the Children of Primus. During the battle, Optimus took charge; a Prowl was left bemused taking orders from someone so short while Optimus was distracted (and annoyed) by his constant statement of what attacks he was going to do.

Optimus and her crew appeared to stick around for the Universe War. Voice Actor Drama

Toys

Universe (2003)

Yet another example of Razorbeast Syndrome. Hope you've got the money to get a POTP Predaking and a Golden Lagoon Starscream too!
  • Optimus Prime (Supreme Class, 2003)
    • Accessories: Pistol, 4 missiles
A Sam's Club exclusive, the Universe release of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime swaps out her red plastic for yellow and makes her Super Mode "bandolier" black. She came packed in robot mode in an upright display package, which featured a sticker on the front with a hilariously mistransformed Omega Prime, advertising the toy's combining ability with the simultaneously-released, slightly-redecoed Sam's Club exclusive Universe release of Robots in Disguise Ultra Magnus.
For some reason, the Autobot symbol on her chest in Battle Mode is left unpainted.
This Optimus Prime was also repurposed as Armada Hot Shot's "Shotimus Prime" body.

Minibots! Transform and roll out!
  • Optimus Prime and Prowl (Basic Class two-pack, 2003)
One of a half-dozen Wal-Mart exclusive Universe toys to hit in the span of a few short months in 2003, this version of Prime is a yellow redeco of the Robots in Disguise Spy Changer Prime (with an oddly-unpainted face), based on the Sam's Club version of the larger toy. Prime was only available in a Basic-pricepoint two-pack with Prowl.
This toy doubles as the "normal" Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime.

Notes

  • Michelle Carolus voiced Optimus at the OTFCC 2004 stage play, which was made into a joke as Prowl found himself 'distracted' by it even though Optimus was apparently male. "Ask Vector Prime" retconned this in 2015 and said this was an Optimus Prime who just happened to be female (grandfathering the Spy Changer Scourge as female too, due to Scourge being partially based on a scan of Optimus Prime).
  • In the OTFCC script, she was designated "Optimus Prime (Micro)". With no stated universe of origin, being released in a franchise that wasn't tied to a reality, and questioning one of Robots in Disguise's tropes, it's likely that she wasn't intended to be a Robots in Disguise Prime... but it never explicitly said she wasn't, and so Ask Vector Prime established her to be from a divergent version of the Robots in Disguise setting!
  • "Kareinaru" can also mean "magnificent" or "gorgeous"; we've chosen to translate it as "Splendid" as a "midpoint" between these meanings.[1]
