Talk:God Neptune (BWSG)
Given developments in recent years, I'd honestly advocate for putting this guy on the BWII page. Escargon (talk) 21:53, 18 November 2018 (EST)
- All but one of his components is different to BWII God Neptune's. If anything, I'd consider him more of a Leobreaker and merge him into Piranacon, but I don't see any problem with leaving him on his own page. Omegatron (talk) 06:44, 27 May 2019 (EDT)
Merger Discussion and Vote
So User:S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 recently posited in the wiki discord that we should merge this article with Piranacon specifically over the BWII version, and definitely not leave it as its own page. In light of a bit of discussion over this we've decided to ask for a vote on the matter, and would invite further discussion here too. Here are the For and Against arguments for merging the page with Piranacon.
- For: In terms of makeup, God Neptune is the classics incarnation of Piranacon with a new colour scheme and two members rotated out. He's called out as behaving differently, but is called out as having the same personality. We don't split out similar variations on existing combiners, such as giving IDW's Prowlastator (we have split out the two Defensor variants God Guardian and Gaia Guardian, but that's another discussion).
- Against: God Neptune's bio text specifically says that the entity Piranacon was destroyed, and God Neptune is a new being entirely. This reads as authorial intent that separates God Neptune from the aforementioned variants. Furthermore, our current separation of the Defensor variants provides a basis for God Neptune to stay separated.
There's also a separate argument that this article should be merged with the BWII character's page, on the basis that he should be taken as a totally new take on the older character. The against argument is that the BWII Seacons are very clearly defined as not being the Decepticon Seacons and the pair should be kept separate to avoid muddling things further.
Please respond below with your votes and opinions on the matter. Star Spangled Sam (talk) 12:13, 23 September 2020 (EDT)
