Multi-family toys are toys used to represent the same basic character across multiple continuity families. It is similar to the practice of repurposing, and is often (though not exclusively) the result of a Multi-Family Character.
Examples of official Multi-family toys

- Prime Ratchet used as G1 Ratchet. The X-Files: Conspiracy: The Transformers
- Bumblebee (G1)/toys - FoC Bumblebee was used as IDW G1 Bumblebee
- Cutthroat (G1) - Prime Cyberverse Windrazor was used as IDW G1 Cutthroat
- Sky-Byte (RID) - Sky-Byte was imported into G1 from RiD
- Starscream (G1)/toys - Generations FoC Starscream and Generations Armada Starscream doubled as IDW G1 Starscream
- Potentially any toy from any given Multi-Family Character
Notes
[edit]- Individual fans often unofficially, within their personal canon, use a toy in multiple continuity families. This works especially well when toys import previous versions of a character to a new continuity. An example could be using Movie Big Daddy as Generation 1 Big Daddy, or even Prime Big Daddy.
