The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo's ultimate video game console, released in 2017 as the successor to the Wii U. Its defining feature is the ability to switch between portable tablet and home console modes, effectively making it a hybrid console. There is a handheld-only variant of the Switch called the Nintendo Switch Lite.
In stark contrast to the Wii U, the Switch was a fantastic sales success, even rivalling Sony's mighty PlayStation 4.[1]
