The Robot Conversion Troop are Decepticon drones from the Generation 1 cartoon continuity.

Born out of modified New York City cars and remote-controlled by their masters, the Robot Conversion Troop supplements the Decepticon forces on Earth.

Fiction

The Transformers cartoon

[edit]

After being offered a million dollars by the Decepticons, the Geddis brothers ran a car theft operation in New York City, accumulating 500 cars for delivery to their client's base in the Pine Barrens. Modified by the Constructicons into transforming drones, the remote-controlled cars drove into the city, where they encountered the Autobots, who got wind of the plot. Transforming into their robot modes, the Robot Conversion Troop had the Autobots at a disadvantage till they realized they were controlled remotely, leading Blaster to jam the signal. The Autobots then invaded the Decepticon base, and, with Raoul's help, were able to destroy the factory, permanently disabling the Robot Conversion Troop.

In the aftermath, Sparkplug Witwicky estimated it would take him weeks to restore the cars to their original state. Make Tracks

Notes

[edit]
  • The drones are never given a proper name in English media; "car-robots" is used as a generic descriptor in the script for "Make Tracks", while "Robot Conversion Troop" comes from deleted dialogue.
