Talk:The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok
I don't think changing this article's title to have "Lord Zarak" in it makes much sense. Lord Zarak is Nebulan, he certainly doesn't appear in this episode or any other episode of Headmasters. --KilMichaelMcC 04:41, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well the Japanese title refers to the little robot that turns into a head, so... --Detour 04:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Whom we call "Scorponok" in the Scorponok (G1) article. At the least, I think "Lord" should be removed, as it's a title. Interrobang 04:58, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- He's confused about the Anglification of names on the wiki.
- We do indeed use the English names whenever possible/sensible... but this is a proper title, it's what the episode's called. The 3rd episode of the Energon series is called Scorpinok, they managed to mispell the name of one of the main characters through heroic acts of incompetence. We know they meant Scorponok... but the title of the episode remains 'Scorpinok.' Titles are titles- we don't change 'em.
- We don't 'guess' what a Japanese title might be if it were written by Americans... because Japanese titles are insane, no English production will never use the title "HyperGod Convoy is a friend to animals and lover of women! Ultimate battle for Fourth Base GO NOW!" In America we title that episode "Prime Numbers." -Derik 05:03, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, under that logic, we should be naming the articles by the transliterations of the actual Japanese titles ("Kage no Taitei Scorponok"), not use translations. (Not that I would mind that, though. Cuts out the speculative guesswork.) This isn't something that's only in this article. "Seibertron" is replaced by "Cybertron", "Cybertron" to "Autobot", etc. Interrobang 05:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Sticking to this article alone: Lord Zarak is NOT the American name for the "little robot who turns into a head." Zarak the Nebulan and Scorponok the robo-head are two DIFFERENT characters. --KilMichaelMcC 05:15, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- That too. (We need an admin to move it back over its redirect, right?) -Derik 05:19, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- You can move over redirects as long as there's no further edits. Interrobang 05:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think those article should be really moved back where they were. Lord Zarak is definitely not the so-called-Scorponok character in Japanese continuity. IF American names is what we're going for, it would seem., Should we change all the Ginrai into Optimus Prime where it appear in each name of the episode of Master Force? I don't think so.--TX55 05:32, September 12 2007 (UTC)

I undid the move. However, he moved a metric buttload of others to new titles.--Rosicrucian 05:49, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
As I was the one who created all these, I suppose I ought to weigh in. I've been deliberately using English terms where there's a no-confusion exchange of one word for the other - "Cybertron" for "Seibertron," "Autobots" for "Cybertrons," etc. Because, like, we translate the REST of the title to the English words which they mean, so why not do the same to the other words? Cybertron=Seibertron, as much as "hai"="yes." There's no distinction. I was a bit iffy about the "Convoy" bit as it's a slight bit more finger waving, and being a Convoy in Japanese does not always equal being a Prime in English, but in the case of Scorponok, I very deliberately picked the Japanese names. The little robot who becomes the head is NOT Lord Zarak, and to change the name confuses the characters and muddies the whole thing. Likewise, I kept "MegaZarak" in the two titles he is a part of because otherwise, they make no sense - "MegaZarak Appears?" Scorponok's been in the show since episode 7, so he's hardly just "appearing" now, so I couldn't make the title "Scorponok Appears" without changing the earlier one. To sort of tie the whole "Japanese names in the title" and "anglicization of the wiki," though, I continued to refer to the character as "Scorponok" in the summaries, even after he becomes MegaZarak. - Chris (not signed in)
