This article is about twin swords of the Dinobot combiner. For the longsword of the sometimes-Dinobot Predacon leader, see Magma Blade (BWN).
Come on everybody let's do the Ōbari.

Forged from the Angolmois Energy of the Earth itself, the twin Magma Blades (マグマブレード Maguma Burēdo) are the signature weapons of the Dinobot combiner Volcanicus, wielded in the name of the Oracle.

"Me Grimlock like to see Prime's magic letter opener do this!"

On the ropes against Predaking during a Quintesson incursion of Dinobot Island in 2050, a despairing Grimlock felt himself contacted by the Oracle once more. The Cybertronian deity chided him not to lose heart, but instead look inside himself and use his resolve to shape the Angolmois Energy of the Earth around him. Summoning all of his inner fire, Grimlock did so and forged the Magma Blades! Grimlock combined with the blades to form the majestic Wing Dragon Mode and dis-armed the Predacon combiner of Divebomb. Forming Volcanicus for the first time with a little help from Grimmaster's Combination Energon Matrix, the Dinobots cut Predaking down to size and saved Dinobot Island. Volcanicus comic 1

Enraged by the grave injury of Carly Witwicky in the Selector Rebellion, Grimlock next raised his Magma Blades in anger against the Cybertron Alliance who had sided with the tiny freedom fighters. The grieving Dinobots mowed down former Autobot and Decepticon with ease, until Grimlock made to execute his old commander Optimus Prime and found his Magma Blade stayed by deeply buried programming the Autobots had installed at the Dinobots' birth to prevent them from taking an Autobot life. Not exactly endearing them to the Cybertron Alliance, this moment of humiliation did nonetheless provide the Selector leader Rung with the common ground to sway the Dinobots to the side of Selector liberty. When the battle for Neo Scramble City reached its final stage and the recklessness of the Quintesson forces unleashed the apocalyptic fury of Megatron Omega, Volcanicus attempted to block back the demon's Angolmois beam to protect his fellow Primitive warrior Abominus. Volcanicus and his blades were quickly overwhelmed, and only Abominus' quick thinking bought them enough time to escape through a time portal to the previous universe. Abominus comic 2

In the ultimate battle for two realities, Volcanicus attempted to vanquish Neo Primus, a youthful Primacron's first foray into planetary scale death machines, only to be sent flying by the behemoth's forearm cannons for his trouble. Volcanicus wasn't out yet, as Hun-Gurrr returned the Dinobots' earlier kindness and super-charged one of the Magma Blades with Angolmois Energy liberated from Primacron's own energy stores to create the Angolmois Blade! Thus empowered, the holy blade achieved its destiny, slaying the giant and saving the young Oracle to live another day, thus completing the time loop of their creation. Finale 2
