Gender Switch note: I see that the trivia says that Shrapnel switched gender "along with Starscream" in Japan. Now, I don't speak/understand/have-ever-watched Japanese TFs, but I did come across this orphaned (until now?) article on Misconceptions and urban legends about Transformers, which says the following:

• Starscream is a female character in the French dub of G1.

This rumor appears to be based on a brief sound clip from the French dub of The Transformers: The Movie, which features a female-sounding voice for Starscream. Some not particularly reliable sources even went so far as claiming that Megatron was referring to Starscream as a "she". However, French fans have since confirmed that Starscream is indeed portrayed as a "male" character in the French dub of the G1 cartoon. [8]
