Talk:Shrapnel (G1)
Gender Switch note: I see that the trivia says that Shrapnel switched gender "along with Starscream" in Japan. Now, I don't speak/understand/have-ever-watched Japanese TFs, but I did come across this orphaned (until now?) article on Misconceptions and urban legends about Transformers, which says the following:
- Starscream is a female character in the French dub of G1.
-
- This rumor appears to be based on a brief sound clip from the French dub of The Transformers: The Movie, which features a female-sounding voice for Starscream. Some not particularly reliable sources even went so far as claiming that Megatron was referring to Starscream as a "she". However, French fans have since confirmed that Starscream is indeed portrayed as a "male" character in the French dub of the G1 cartoon.

I've seen the movie. In French. Countless times. Being French-Canadian and whatnot. He was dubbed as a girl in the movie. Megatron says "Tu es une imbécile!", if he'd referred to a man he would've said "un imbécile". As for Shrapnel, Kickback called him "Mademoiselle Shrapnel", men get called monsieur not mademoiselle. Audio samples here for proof. As for the TV series, both France and Quebec used their own teams to dub this, and Starscream was given a male voice in both. Starscream in Quebec and Starscream in France.
Why did you bring up Japan, though? Did someone else edit the article while I wasn't looking? --Detour 21:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry. Force of habit. When I talk about foreign TFs, it's almost always about Japanese TFs. This is probably the first time I've ever had occasion to talk about French ones. But I did mean French. I'll leave this for you and Walky to duke it out over on the other thread--G.B. Blackrock 22:43, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Richard III, anyone?
[edit]That first image caption needs to be changed. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a poorly-executed Shakespeare joke. The original line is "A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse," so, I would think the joke should go "Insulation, insulation, my kingdom for better electrical insulation," or something like that. Will anyone be offended if I correct this comedy of errors?--Starcrunch 17:40, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- Shrapnel is saying the last part of the quite "My kingdom for a horse/better electrical insulation". The second "insulation" is there because that's how Shrapnel talked in the cartoon; he always repeteated the last word of each sentence sentence. --FortMax 18:21, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, Professor Know-it-all! Get your facts straight before you whine about perfectly legit captions! --Certainly not that idiot Starcrunch 19:24, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Odd speach
[edit]What's up with some of the lines having the last word reapeted?--Autobot Soundwave 02:41, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- It is a reference to Shrapnel's own unique speech quirk from the cartoon and Dreamwave comics. --Xaaron 02:44, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
The insect-mode antennae on his toy
[edit]Those two bumps that serve as the bug-mode antennae have an... odd... placement on his robot-mode chest. Should we note this in the article? ZeldaTheSwordsman 17:16, 4 May 2010 (EDT)

Moved discussion from "Talk:Skrapnel (Kre-O)"
[edit]Class of 1984
[edit]Should the "Class of 1984" Skrapnel be considered another version of this Skrapnel (due to the name) or a Kreon version of Shrapnel (Kre-O) (due to being G1-inspired)?--D.A.Martin (talk) 13:34, 29 July 2014 (EDT)--D.A.Martin (talk) 13:34, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
- Merge all three under this name. Mimi (talk) 13:37, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
- Micro-Changer Skrapnel's a Zaptrap homage though, and we've previously kept Kreons with the same name who homage different characters separate, like Scattershot (Kre-O blindbag) and Scattershot (Kre-O Computron). Admittedly, though, I have no idea how they could be disambiguated... Jalaguy (talk) 13:45, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
- Maybe the black one could be Skrapnel (Kre-O individual) and the red one Skrapnel (Kre-O Drone) as he's a homahe to the Zaptrap drone?--D.A.Martin (talk) 14:09, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
Generations Skrapnel/Reflector
[edit]It seems that Skrapnel can hold Reflector by the arms in camera mode, with Reflector's arms being the same width as the space between Skrapnel's fingers and thumb. This lets him hold Reflector the right way up and right in front of his face pretty nicely. Is this worth mentioning in the toy description? --King Starscream (talk) 16:06, 11 November 2014 (EST)
- Just tried it, and no, Reflector's arms can't fit in Skrapnel's fist-holes without widening his hands. --Inkblot (talk) 22:35, 11 November 2014 (EST)
Worth putting?
[edit]https://youtu.be/b2JST5meJAM apparently the writers really used him as punching bag, bag.Poliwag06 (talk) 11:52, 29 March 2023 (EDT)
Legacy Mold
[edit]We now have 4 uses of the mold. Does it qualify to get a mold template now? (Like Galvatron also had his mold used 4x and he has a template, same with Arcee).Poliwag06 (talk) 06:17, 1 March 2024 (EST)
