This episode replaces the original Car Robots clip show, "Focus! New Warriors," in the Robots in Disguise line-up. Like the other two clip shows in the series, "Hope for the Future" and "The Mystery of Ultra Magnus," it is completely different from it's Japanese counterpart - whereas "Focus! New Warrors" featured clips covering the Decepticons, the Build Team, Ultra Magnus and Omega Prime, "Lessons of the Past" is re-edited to become almost entirely an abridged re-telling of "Landfill." This, presumably, is because "Landfill" didn't actually air in the US, and this allowed viewers to see a good-sized chunk of what they were missing.
