Beast Wars II: Super Lifeform Transformers (franchise)
Beast Wars II (sometimes Beast Wars the Second) was the first Japanese-only Beast Wars franchise, consisting of the following components:
- A toyline.
- A manga series.
- A television series.
- A theatrical-release movie, Beast Wars Special.
The Beast Wars II toyline consisted almost entirely of redecoes of Generation 2, Machine Wars, and American Beast Wars toys, although all new molds were created for the two faction leaders: Leo Prime, a white lion, and Galvatron, a purple dragon. Most of the Destrons are mechanical while the Cybertrons all have beast modes.
The cartoon series aired in Japan between season one of Beast Wars and seasons two and three, in order to fill the gap until the later seasons could be dubbed into Japanese. The Cybertron (Maximal) team starts off with Leo Prime, Apache, Bighorn, Tasmania Kid, Scuba, and Diver (BWII. The Destron (Predacon) side starts off with Galvatron, Megastorm, Starscream, BB, Dirge, and Thrust.
Beast Wars Special, the Beast Wars II movie, consisted of three segments, only one of which contained new animation:
- A condensed recap of Beast Wars season 1.
- "Lio Convoy in Imminent Danger!", a new cel-animated story where Optimus Primal (known in Japan as Convoy) visits the Beast Wars II universe.
- The Beast Wars episode, "Bad Spark". Because season two of Beast Wars had not aired in Japan yet, the episode begins with a recap of season two up to the point of that episode, in order to explain how they got there from the end of season one.
