Sunbow Productions was a cartoon studio that produced many children's shows of the 80's and early 90's, including G.I. Joe and the Generation 1 cartoon. While writing duties were handled in the United States, much of the animation was outsourced to companies like the Japanese Toei and the Korean studio AKOM. In 1988, the company was bought out by Sony BMG, and subsequently sold off to TV Loonland, who also purchased Metrodome which currently holds the European distribution rights to the original Transformers cartoon.
