Transformers: Return of Convoy (franchise)

Japanese Generation 1 continuity « Return of Convoy » Toyline Manga Story Pages Commercials

Transformers: Return of Convoy (戦え!超ロボット生命体トランスフォーマーリターン・オブ・コンボイ) was the fifth Japanese-exclusive Transformers franchise, released in 1991 and following on from Transformers: Zone in 1990.

The franchise featured the following three components:

• A toyline
• The Battlestars manga special.
• A series of story pages.

It is notable that this franchise was the first Japanese series not to have any corresponding animation. Neither would the next franchise, Operation Combination.

Story

Return of Convoy continued the storyline of the animated continuity, picking up where Zone left off, but was never actually animated. Instead, the story was told through a single issue of manga and story pages.

The Return of Convoy storyline revolved around the return of Optimus Prime as Star Convoy and his battle against Dark Nova and the resurrected Super Megatron.

Notes

• Return of Convoy media did not give a timeframe, but decades later, "The Road to Legends' Revival Chapter 5" would establish that the storyline transpired in the year 2031.
