The United States Department of Defense is the governmental body responsible for the United States of America's national security and armed forces. It is headed by the Secretary of Defense. Or sometimes a Defense Minister.

Notes
- Dreamwave continuity mistakenly uses the term "Defense Ministry" because Dreamwave, the publisher of the storyline, was based in Canada, and the Great White North's equivalent of the U.S. Secretary of Defense is termed the Minister of National Defence. Oddly enough, the Canadian Minister of National Defence does head up the Department of National Defence.
