The echo-location goggles were developed by Ratchet to allow rescues in places where regular vision is impossible. They use the wearer's own voice to create a visual representation of the surrounding area.

Rescue Bots Academy cartoon

Ratchet developed the goggles in his science lab on Cybertron, installing a sensory-dampening tank full of hazards in order to test them. Once they were functional, he invited Heatwave and the recruits to try them out. Hot Shot was able to successfully use them to see the surrounding area in the lab. After Hot Shot chased Medix's bat Mister Flappy into the testing tank, Medix donned the goggles himself in order to rescue his fellow recruit. Medix Steps Up To The Bat

  • The goggles are never given an official name in the episode they appear in, simply being referred to throughout as "the goggles".
