W Cassettebot

The W Cassettebots are an Autobot subgroup from the Headmasters portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The W Cassettebots (Wカセットボット Daburu Kasettobotto, aka the Dinocassettes) are a subgroup of the Autobot Mini-Cassettes subgroup. Made up of dinosaur robots, they can double-up with a partner to form a humanoid robot.

The W Cassettebots are:

• Decibel, formed from:
  • Graphy - Pteranodon
  • Noise - Allosaurus

• Legout, formed from:
  • Dile - Iguanodon
  • Zaur - Brontosaurus

Notes

• The "W" is Japan's method of denoting "double", deriving it from "W" being "double u". It was also used for the Micromaster Combiners during Return of Convoy, which were denoted the "W Teams".
• It is unknown if the pairings of Grand Slam/Raindance and Beastbox/Squawktalk are considered W Cassettebots (or W Cassettetron, in the case of Beastbox and Squawktalk). Those pairings were not sold at normal retail in Japan, only offered as mail-aways.
• The Hasbro Pulse listing for Vintage G1 Graphy and Noise refers to them as the Dinocassettes, marking the first official recognition of a long-time English-speaking fandom nickname for the group.
  • Whether this means other dinosaur cassettes such as Overkill or Slugfest are considered Dinocassettes is also unknown.
