The Energon-axe is a weapon from the Generation One continuity family.

The Energon-axe is the cool kickass weapon used by Optimus Prime. He retracts his hand, and then ax replaces it. A cool weapon, but he only used once in the ENTIRE animated series. Despite that, it was very memorable ability, so much so that one of the Optimus Prime toys was remodeled so an arm could be removed and replaced with the ax.
