G2 Universe Jhiaxus insignia

Currently, G2 Universe Jhiaxus is listed here as a G2 Decepticon, but would it not make more sense that the non-purple insignia on his chest is supposed to represent the Cybertronian Empire and not the G2 Decepticons?
