Can a meta-template help this work? Or is messy handwritten SWITCH calls our only option? What about subst: for setup?

What if is translated the piped request-term into a standardized term? i.e. "cartoon" -> 'animatedseries'?

OOH- and you could send it like---

{{translator
|{{{1}}} <-- The Requested Variable
|Anime=pagename/title?
|comic =
|manga=
...
}}

...so each page actually sends the Translator-template the whole kit-and-kaboodle of their possible 'dests' alogn with what was requested of them this time. Then the Translator template says "well, this one here matches the term in question best."

Look into parsing on commas as terms for ease of setup
