The name or term "Nightscream" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Nightscream (disambiguation).
Nightscream is a Decepticon-aligned Mini-Con from the Energon portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
Captain Crotchless

Nightscream was an unassuming and nebbish Mini-Con, who worked for the Mini-Con Council of Sages as a costs accountant. That is, until Nightcruz was found by Nightscream in the process of stealing combiner data from the Council. Instead of doing the right thing and reporting him to his superiors, Nightscream helped him steal the data, and from that day on, he worked with Nightcruz and Rapid Run as a spy and an accountant. His nerdy outward personality hides both a lust for adventure and deep resentment, which can occasionally bubble to the surface as strange berserker fits.[1]

A redeco of the Armada Mini-Con Rook, Nightscream transforms into a robot head that fits into the shoulders of Rapid Run. By pushing Nightscream's arms into the holes in Rapid Run's shoulders, they reveal an Autobot sigil under his clear-plastic chestplate.
Nightscream also forms the upper half of Nightcreeper with Nightcruz.

Notes

I'm a Deceptibot.
  • Although Nightscream allows Rapid Run to disguise himself as an Autobot when serving as his head, the toy packaging identifies Nightscream as a Decepticon-aligned Mini-Con. Considering the whole eleventh-hour nature of the Rapid Run toy, it's hard to say which version represents Hasbro's intent. The 2007 Transformers Collectors' Club bio would massage these details together, characterizing Nightscream as a defector from Autobot ally to Decepticon ally.
  • Just like Rapid Run himself, Nightcruz and Nightscream are also not depicted in their toys' actual decos, but rather in the colors of the Armada figures they're redecoed from, although "Nightscream" inexcplicably has the red paint operations on the sides of his chest changed from Rook's red to purple.
  • Along the same lines, the name "Nightscream" was likely selected simply because Hasbro already had that name trademarked thanks to the Beast Machines toy and the Armada Mini-Con of the same name.
