This template includes an optional storylink parameter. You can include a link to the article the section spoils with the following syntax:

This template also includes an optional (but recommended) expiration time parameter. You can set a plain-English date such as 'August 12' to indicate when the spoiler will expire, and the tag will indicate how long it has until it does expire. This is to let readers know how 'fresh' the spoilers are, and to let editors know when it is alright to include this information in the larger article without 'compartmentalizing' it in the section below the spoiler tag.

Articles for which no expiration date is set are sorted into Category: Articles with nonexpiring spoiler tags

Once an expiration date has passed, the articles are sorted into Category: Articles with expired spoilers tags

Note for future editors: This template requires both the sub-template Template:Spoiler/guts and the redirect to that sub-template Template:Spoiler/guts_recurs in order to work. If somethign is broken, look there.

The 'rendering' portion of this template is handles in the first section of Template:Spoiler/guts. That is where the output can be adjusted. See also: Template:messagebox, the output template being used.
