This article is about the heroic Decepticon ambassador. For his evil counterpart, see Shockwave (G1). For a list of other meanings, see Shockwave (disambiguation).
Shockwave is a heroic Decepticon from the Shattered Glass continuity family.
SG Fistfight is his Niles.

Shockwave is a Decepticon whose skills are at relations between organisms, working as the ambassador between Earth and the Decepticons, along with his aide Fistfight. Calm, wizened, he's intelligent and patient, though no scientist. Like most Decepticons, he's more than willing to put his life on the line to save humans. Although his fighting techniques are entirely defensive, he's more than capable of putting a hole through any Autobot.

After mistaking Cliffjumper for his universe's Cliffjumper, Megatron mistakenly believed that his time in the Rad Zone had damaged his circuitry, and noted that perhaps they should have Shockwave take a look at him. Shattered Glass

When the Decepticons got a two-way stellar spanner going between Earth and Cybertron, Megatron assigned Shockwave to Earth as an ambassador. Shockwave arrived at the base on Earth and was greeted by Starscream and Professor Arkeville. He was particularly interested in talking to Cliffjumper, and hearing more about Primus. Shockwave attended the unveiling of the Mega-Rig, aiming to meet R.J. Blackrock and Senator Shore. When a group of Autobots attacked the ceremony, Shockwave acted only in defense. The human Sephie Beller came under threat from Seaspray, and Shockwave acted quickly, taking the missile which would surely have killed her.

Though he was seriously damaged, he survived and was taken back to base for repairs. Sephie blamed herself for his injuries and got herself upgraded with Cybertronian technology. Though the other Decepticons didn't approve of it, Starscream's scans of her tech provided several vital tips to boost Shockwave's self-repair, saving his life. He was soon on his feet, albeit unsteadily, and greeted Sephie when the Decepticons brought her back to base. Transhuman

A senator before the Great War, Shockwave was a political rival to Orion Pax. Shattered Glass #2 Knowing that Pax was using Ultra Magnus' knowledge of the law to build a power base, Shockwave frequently visited his old friend to try and dissuade him from helping Pax. After dodging the press, Shockwave ran afoul of Magnus' new personal guard, the unit that would become the Wreckers. When Magnus resorted to violence to reign in the insubordinate Impactor, a disgusted Shockwave asked if Magnus had enjoyed it. Shockwave was later present on the day that Magnus launched a terrorist attack on the Senate building. Confronting his old friend, Shockwave attempted to appeal to Magnus' better nature only to be knocked unconscious. Shattered Glass II #1

At Orion's order, Shockwave was then subjected to empurata. Though the surgery was intended to remove Shockwave's compassionate nature, it backfired and made his empathy consume him. When Cybertronian society devolved into open war, Shockwave joined the Decepticons and took part in the fighting on Earth before the Decepticons were forced to retreat back to Cybertron. Shockwave didn't really have a comparable 'counterpart' in the G1 pantheon that really stood out.
